Southern Kaduna attacks: No single security in Golkofa community – Residents cry out

In spite of Kaduna State government’s assurance of adequate security to protect lives and property in the troubled areas of Southern Kaduna, Golkofa Community in Godogodo district area of Jema’a local government that suffered alleged Fulani herdsmen attacked is yet to see any security agent in the community.

It would be recalled that recently, six people were killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen on their farmland in the area.

A source told DAILY POST that Golkofa which has a population of about 3,000 people has been deserted following fear of the unknown, leaving behind 14 men and a woman.

The source explained that effort being made for the community and the Fulanis to resolve their differences have not yielded any positive results.

“As l am talking to you, there were gunshots yesterday in the night.

“Our situation in this community is so pathetic and terrible. We requested police personnel to help station their men in our community from the Kafanchan area command but there has been no response for the past two weeks.

“The Nigerian army and the Police have authoritatively told the people that they are not permitted to go into the bush where the suspected Fulanis are alleged to be hiding.

“Our families cannot live here, they are in Godogodo, Gidan Waya and other neighbouring communities.

“You can come and see things for yourself, there is no single security in Golkofa community. The people are now living around Gada Biyu while others go to other villages where they could manage their lives,” he disclosed.

The Kaduna state Deputy Governor Arc.Bala Barnabas Bantex earlier said the state government spent a huge amount of money every month on security in the state.
