South West missed out by not voting for the PDP in 2011 – Governor Yuguda

Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda has stated that the people of Southwest geopolitical zone missed out by not voting for the ruling People’s Democratic party in the 2011 general elections.

The Governor said this while responding to the speech of the leader of the Forum of State Secretaries of the PDP in the 19 Northern states during a courtesy visit at the Government House, Bauchi.

He said that the internal crisis currently rocking the opposition parties was enough for them to grapple with, than thinking of how to unseat them.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ishola Michael Adeyemi, the Governor said that the PDP will not just sit down and allow the opposition to seize power from it.

“We will ensure that we do those things that will make the people believe in us and continue to vote for us, but we must do what they want”.

He challenged the Secretaries of the PDP in the 19 Northern States and FCT to ensure that they embark on educating the public on the manifestoes of the party. On the fate of the party in the South West, the Governor said, “We are going to storm the South West very soon and our target is to get back the area in the 2015 general elections. The people there have tasted other parties and have come to realise that they missed a lot by not voting for the PDP in the last general elections.”

Earlier, the Chairman of the forum, Hon Aminu Iliyasu Yusuf explained that the formation of the forum was borne out of the patriotic zeal, vision and necessity to further strengthen, collaborate, energise and articulate the collective socio-political and economic aspirations, as well as the vision and mission of the PDP.
