The All Progressives Congress (APC) South-East zone has lauded the vice presidential candidate of the party, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), for his road-map on how to provide jobs for teeming unemployed youths.
Osinbajo had unfolded the road-map at a town hall meeting he held with South-East youths in Enugu on Monday, at Nike Lake Hotel.
In a statement by its spokesman, Mr Osita Okechukwu, South-East APC commended the APC vice presidential candidate for rekindling sagging hopes of Ndigbo and indeed Nigerian youths as evidenced by the profound agenda for youths.
The party stated that it was thrilled that the agenda for youths unfolded by Osinbajo, captured specific job creating projects, their timelines and means of implementation, unlike the empty promises of the past mounted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led federal government.
The statement reads further: “Professor Osinbajo reminded the youths that General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of APC means business, when on 10th January, he promised at the state rally to revamp Enugu Coal on resumption of office and create one million jobs out of it in four years”.
On how to achieve this he stated , “APC government will commission a consulting firm which will under eight months carry out bankable feasibility study, via 3D Seismic Survey to ascertain the seams, quantity and quality of the coal to enable credible investors to partner with the government in mining and construction of the Coal-Fired-Power-Plant”.
On the possibility of generating one million jobs in four years, S’East APC noted that Osinbajo said, “it was possible because some of the coal would be utilized for generating electricity, while some will be for exports and some for ancillary factories which will be coal dependent.
“He delved into other possibilities in the South East like Abakiliki rice and Abakiliki cement factory, gas deposits bound in the region and promised that General Muhammadu Buhari will embark on Town Hall meeting either in Onitsha or Aba to interact with medium and small scale entrepreneurs to fashion out the way forward”.
On how to fund the projects he posited that, “curbing corruption is the key, as an APC government will wage strident war against corruption. With zero tolerance of corruption foreign direct investment will multiple and confidence will be built and image of Nigeria enhanced”.
The party, therefore, said it was saluting Professor Osinbajo for raising the bar on how best to create jobs for millions of our idle youths.
