South Africa vs Nigeria: Jay Jay Okocha reveals his expectations from AFCON clash

Former Super Eagles of Nigeria’s captain, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, has revealed what he expects when Nigeria tackle South Africa in the 2019 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying fixture on November 17.

Okocha says he expects Gernot Rohr’s men to defeat the Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium on Saturday in front of their home fans.

The ex-Bolton Wanderers star also said Nigeria does not see South Africa as rivals, adding that the hosts are tough opponents.

“No, we do not see South Africa as our rivals, but we know that they are very tough opponents,” Okocha told Soccerladuma.co.za.

“Maybe the Nigerians who are living here (in South Africa) see that as bragging rights, but I do not have to go with what fans make of the game.

“I speak as a football personality, somebody who has been there before, you know. So I know they are not our rivals, but it is always a good match to watch.”

Okocha, who represented the Super Eagles 75 times added: “Well, may the better team win! I want to enjoy the game.

“I want to see a good, very competitive match. Of course, my heart is with Nigeria, but if South Africa deserve it, they should win.”

Nigeria is on top of the group with nine points from four fixtures, while South Africa is in second place with eight points from the same number of games.
