The Management of the Nigerian Law School, NLA, has cried out that some lawyers were now in the habit of impersonating for students in the school during examinations.
The revelation was made by the Director General of the school, Professor Olanrewaju Onadeko, SAN, in Port Harcourt, yesterday, during the ongoing 56th General Annual Meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA.
He said some students had already been caught in the process and are awaiting disciplinary measures.
He said, “Some lawyers were caught sitting as surrogates for students at the Nigerian Law School. In other words, they were caught writing examination for students at the school.”
He said the students involved had been sent to NBA for appropriate actions.
He further called on the leadership of the NBA to take serious and drastic actions against such offenders to serve as deterrent to others who may want to take similar step.
The lawyer to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, lawyer, Rotimi Jacob, SAN, equally frowned at the development.
He tasked the NBA not to allow such incident to be swept under the carpet but to take serious punitive measures against lawyers caught in the act.
According to him, “Such lawyers should be punished after the due process had been followed.”
