A group known as the Arewa Youth Integrity Forum (AYIF) has expressed grave concern over attempts by some elements in the Country who were bent on causing disaffection and heating the polity unnecessarily.
They were emphatic that these elements have accused the northern part of the country as politically domineering, by alleging that the likes of Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmed El-rufa’i, wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari were those running the government instead of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo as was constitutionally empowered.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna, which was signed by its President, Comrade Ibrahim Abubakar and made available to DAILY POST, the group reminded Nigerians that President Buhari handed over properly to his Vice and transmitted same to the National Assembly in line with statutory provisions, hence, it was needless for any other subterranean interpretation.
“In a record making move, President Muhammadu Buhari properly notified the National Assembly of his ten-day medical leave and Professor Osinbajo’s status as acting President in that time span,” the statement noted.
”It is, therefore, sad that this kind of wicked rumour is making the rounds at a time when Nigerians, especially from within his party, should support Mr President with prayers,” the group said.
Describing as the figment of imagination of those behind the unfortunate rumour, the group urged politicians, both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition party as well as those highly placed to always identified with government in moving the nation forward by not placing their interest above the people they govern.
“We have it on good authority that those behind the rumour are highly placed persons in the All Progressives Congress (APC) who want to plunge the country into crisis in pursuit of their personal agenda,” they alleged.
The statement further advised that it was time for anyone irrespective of political, ethnic and religious affiliation to desist from mischief at this time of the day, noting that Nigerians were watching the turn of events day by day.
