Anthony Martial’s agent, Philippe Lamboley has labelled Arsenal as a club that follows players, but never signs them eventually.
He was responding to Arsene Wenger’s comments that the Gunners did not buy Martial because he is more of a wide player.
Martial has made a storming start to his Manchester United career, scoring four times in four games, following his £36million transfer from Monaco this summer.
“If the analysis of Wenger was to justify not having signed Anthony, then I accept his words and so he’s a winger. But in football there are those who follow players and those that buy them,” he told RMC radio station.
“Anthony is a true modern centre forward. I am surprised by the analysis of Wenger, who has apparently followed him since he was an adolescent.
“I don’t agree with [Wenger] because Anthony scored between 25-30 goals a season when he was in Lyon’s youth academy and never played as a winger.
“When he goes wide and then comes central, it’s to pick up speed and get away from the centre-backs,” he added.
