Solskjaer speaks on how Arsenal, Chelsea playing Europa League semis will help Man Utd

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has dismissed suggestions that their top-four hopes have been boosted by all their rivals progressing to European semi-finals.

Tottenham overcame Manchester City in dramatic fashion on Wednesday to make the last four of the Champions League, while Arsenal and Chelsea both won in the Europa League and will face Valencia and Frankfurt respectively.

The three teams face a testing run of games to end the season, domestically and in Europe, while United are only focused on finishing in the top four now.

But Solskjaer does not believe the European progress of Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs benefits United.

“Well, it will probably give them a boost playing those games.

“That’s what you want, we’d have loved to have a semi-final to play in but not the case.

“These three games are our short term focus and shouldn’t think about anything but having a great week,” Solskjaer told a press conference on Friday.
