Solskjaer changes Man Utd’s formation ahead of new season

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, wants his side to play in a ‘fluid’ 4-2-3-1 system next season, Andy Mitten reports.

Solskjaer adopted a 4-3-3 formation, when he replaced Jose Mourinho last December.

United’s play improved and there was a return to the counter-attacking football from years past.

However, the 47-year-old wants to make a slight tweak to his formation next term, by having two outright central midfielders behind a more fluid attack.

Pogba has been earmarked to play in an attacking midfield position, where he is given more freedom to get into the box.

The move could be dependent on United’s success in signing a central midfielder this summer, with Solskjaer keen to move Pogba forward if he can get in a new recruit to play alongside Nemanja Matic.
