Senator Chris Ngige , All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate in the November 16 Anambra State election said he received with sadness the passing of Mr Solomon Lar, elder Statesman, former Governor of old Plateau State and former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Ngige in a press release made on his behalf by his media aide, Mr Okelo Madukaife recalled the great working relationship he personally shared with Lar, while working as Assistant National Secretary of the PDP and later governor of Anambra State and noted that with his passing, the Lar family, people of Plateau and Nassarawa States and the entire membership of the PDP had suffered a great loss. While noting that history would be kind to Lar, Senator Ngige pledged his commitment to the replication of the ideals of humility, teamwork, progressivism which Lar stood for and for which he would be remembered by generations. Ngige who described Lar as a great friend of the Igbos, said he left at a time when many of such voices are required to add to those making a case to reposition Ndigbo along with its leaders in the national scheme. Ngige urged the family of Lar, the good people of Plateau and Nassarawa States, and all who are immediately and remotely bereaved by this sad occurrence to bear it with equanimity “as God gave and the Lord has taken Solomon Lar away, while his legacies remain”.
