Officers and men of the Nigerian Army, 222 Battalion today rescued a school teacher of Owhe Grammar School, Dr. (Mrs.) Felicia Ovoh from the hands of suspected kidnappers in Ovrode community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The soldiers also recovered community funds stolen from the victim from the suspects.
It was gathered that the victim was and her grand children were held hostage at gun point by suspected kidnappers on their way to school.
The suspect dropped the victim’s children after they confirmed she was their prime target and whisked her away.
The Soldiers led by Capt. GM Ado told newsmen at Ozoro that, “at about 07.15hrs, he got a call about the incident and our quick response team chased the kidnappers to Ovrode swamp forest before she was rescued.”
“The hoodlums were shooting sporadically to scare us away and as you can see, our vehicle was destroyed by the kidnappers, but the woman and her vehicle with community money that was with her, N774, 000 were all recovered and handed over to the police at Ozoro division.”
The Army captain appealed to the general public to always give useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals in living in their environs.
Husband of the victim, Mr. Peter Ovoh said, “It was God that used people and the army to rescue her wife unhurt.
“She left the house this morning for work with the children and my grandson, thank God I saw them alive hale and healthy.”
