Two men have been arraigned in Ikeja Chief Magistrates court on Monday for allegedly assaulting their neighbour’s son sexually.
The duo, whose names are Rabiu Muhamed, 46, a fashion designer and Saheedu Yahaya, 20, a factory worker lived at No. 3, Awoyinfa St., Agege, a district in Lagos.
The accused are facing a 2-count charge of sexual assault and conspiracy. If found guilty, they will face a sentence of 3 years imprisonment.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu revealed to the court that the crimes were committed in June at the accused’s house.
Ogu maintained that the accused persuaded the 10-year-old boy into their room in the pretext of sending him on an errand.
“They shut the door at him, fingered his anus and inserted their manhood.
“It was the cry of the boy that alerted one of the neighbours and she rushed to the accused window to see what was happening,’’ he told the court.
Ogu said, the woman shouted for help and the two accused persons were rounded up by tenants and handed over to the Police.
The offences contravened Sections 410 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
Section 261 states that any offender, who is found guilty of felony is liable to a three-year imprisonment.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
Akanni adjourned the case till July 17, for mention.
