An Ejigbo Magistrate court was on Monday thrown into a state of pandemonium when a new Magistrate, Mr Akeem A. Fashola who officially resumed work following his transfer by the Lagos State Judiciary found a snake in the court chambers.
The incident occurred after the opening of the court and when Fashola was about to commence proceedings.
It was gathered that shortly after the new Magistrate assumed his sit in the chamber, a green snake appeared, causing Fashola and the court officials to scamper in different directions for safety.
Normalcy was said to have been restored after the prosecutor, Femi Adeleye, and some security men attached to the court searched and killed the snake.
Reacting to the mild drama, a security guard attached to the court said “The new Magistrate officially resumed his duty on Monday and as he entered into the chamber and sat down, the court cleaner went into the chamber to clean up the place. While carrying out her duty, the snake suddenly appeared.”
