It was indeed a sad weekend for the people of Aduwan village, Zango Kataf local government area of Kaduna state, as yet to be identified gunmen besieged the community, killing no fewer than six persons and left many injured.
DailyPost gathered that the aggressive and heinous attack that lasted for over 10 minutes without being challenged by any security agency saw the gunmen shooting at the villagers indiscriminately.
Among the injured were women and children returning from places of worship.
An eyewitness said “We are tired of these unprovoked killings in our area without the government and security agents doing
something serious about it. Our people might be pushed to the wall to take laws into their hands if within 24 hour the attackers are not fished out,”
Kaduna state Police Relations Officer, Aminu Lawan said the police have commenced an aggressive manhunt for the killers, assuring that very soon, the killers would be brought to book.
Meanwhile, the unprovoked attack has triggered fear of possible reprisal attacks by the Zango kataf youth.
However, to forestall any breach of public peace and outbreak of violence, Kaduna State government has ordered the police to deploy its men to areas identified as “flash points” in the village, urging the residents to remain calm as the government was up and doing to bring the perpetrators to book..
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor of Kaduna state, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero and signed by the state’s Director General on Media and Public Affairs, Ahmed Maiyaki, Yero urged the residents to remain calm, assuring them of their protection as well as their property.
