Six police officers to face trial for beating colleague to stupor

Six Policemen who allegedly beat their colleague, Corporal James Ameh over extortion of money are now been detained at a police station in Port Harcourt.

They are expected to be charged to court  this week for attacking their colleague who does not support them in collecting N5,000 from from a commercial taxi driver last Thursdays.

Ameh, a Police Mobile Force [PMF] 56 based in Ogoni in Rivers State is presently receiving treatment at a hospital in Port-Harcourt following an injury sustained from his force mates despite he was on uniform

The victim was initially rushed to the police clinic at the old Government Reservation Area {GRA} near Government House, Port Harcourt before he was moved to a bigger facility, owing to the severity of his injuries.

A senior police source disclosed yesterday that the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Indabawa, had insisted that the ugly incident must be investigated and culprits prosecuted in other to serve as deterrent to others.
