Six Kano lawmakers dump APC for PDP

Six members of Kano State House of Assembly on Wednesday announced their defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The legislators announced their defection in a letter they sent to the House.

Speaker Kabiru Rurum, who read out the letter, said the six lawmakers explained that their defection to the PDP was on the premise that the party (APC) has “failed to meet the aspirations and yearnings of the people we represent”.

The defectors were: Yusuf Sulaiman (Gwale), Rabiu Saleh (Gwarzo), Zubairu Mahmud (Madobi), Yusuf Abdullahi Falgore (Rogo), Hamza Sule (Bichi) and Isiaku Ali Danja (Gezawa).

DAILY POST reported on Tuesday, that a former special adviser attached to the Deputy Governor’s Office at the state Government House, Hafiz Ahmed Bichi, who is among the 10 Senior Special Advisers (SSAs) that tendered their resignation letters on Monday, revealed that 10 Senior Special Assistants and the six lawmakers have concluded plans to defect and are even lobbying more of their colleagues.

He revealed that their actions is because of the unresolved dispute between the state Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje and his predecessor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

According to Bichi, since their leader (Kwankwaso) had left the party for the PDP, they have no choice than to follow suit.
