Super Eagles defender, Godfrey Oboabona, has confirmed that head coach of the U-23 side, Samson Siasia, has approached him to play at the 2016 Olympic Games.
Oboabona, who plays for Rizespor, is expected to return to his Turkish club this week for pre-season preparations. But says it will be an honour to feature in Rio.
“Yes I have been contacted about the Olympics by the coach but nothing has been decided yet as my club is yet to be notified by the Nigeria Football Federation for my release,” he said.
Nigeria are in Group C of the Olympic men’s football event, along with Sweden, Colombia and Japan.
