Interim coach of the senior national football team, Samson Siasia will be considering the creativity of the duo of Victor Moses and Moses Simon to destabilize the stronghold of Egypt in today’s all important 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game in Kaduna.
Both players have been distinct in attack, making important inputs with tantalizing play in training.
While it was expected that both wingers fight for a starting spot on the left wing, it’s looking like Siasia has opted to field the duo in crunch encounter.
Wednesday’s training session saw West Ham United’s Moses playing the supporting role to top striker Odion Ighalo, while Simon was left to work through the wings.
The pace and creativity will be a factor in tormenting the Pharaohs defence and creating room for Ighalo to wreak havoc at will.
The coach tried out Kelechi Iheanacho in the creative midfield role, but it seem the teenager has not shown much of his worth thus far, the reason why he has preferred Moses.
There have been little or no challenge at all for CSKA Moscow man, Ahmed Musa in the right wing, and Siasia has kept faith with former team captain who has kept up the pace so far.
In central midfield, new skipper John Obi Mikel and Oghenekaro Etebo have been doing well together and it’s looking like they will keep their place.
Mikel seem to be the deeper lying of the two.
However, one situation at training on Wednesday saw them exposed after they both went forward, leaving the opposing team to launch a quick counter attack against the central defensive duo of Godfrey Oboabona and Efe Ambrose.
Azubuike Okechukwu also battles for the central midfield role.
He has been tipped to support Mikel in the absence of Ogenyi Onazi, who will be serving a suspension for the first game but should be back for the Alexandria encounter.
The big surprise that is likely to take place is in the full-back positions where Stanley Amuzie and Mathew Etim have shown no weakness.
