Samson Siasia is not a happy man, despite the Dream Team VI’s 2-0 win over Gabon on Saturday in Abuja.
The Nigerian U-23 side defeated their Gabonese counterparts 6-1 on aggregate, to set up a final round fixture against Zambia, in a bid to qualify for the 2015 All African Games in September.
Siasia promised football fans, that they will keep working to correct some of the mistakes he noticed, ahead of the crucial encounter.
”When you don’t have confidence, you’re bound to make many mistakes and I think that was the biggest problem, hopefully and gradually they’ll get use to playing here in Nigeria,” Siasia told media.
“In Gabon, they were so relaxed and played very well. If we could win 4-1 away from home, I don’t know why they shouldn’t be able to do it here.
”In the first half, the Gabonese players had much chances than we did. The players made so much mistakes, passing the ball back to themselves.Perhaps, they were scared of playing in Nigeria but these are young boys, they’ll get used to it gradually.
”The most important thing is that all the lapses have to be corrected before the next game.
The first leg of the match against Zambia is scheduled for March 21.
