Siasia calls up Mikel Obi, Ighalo, 40 others for Egypt matches

Interim coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia, has announced a 42-man squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations double header against Egypt this month.

The squad, which was revealed in Abuja on Thursday, includes 20 foreign-based players.

Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, Watford’s Odion Ighalo, CSKA Moscow’s Ahmed Musa, Monaco’s Elderson Echiejile and Lazio’s Ogenyi Onazi made the cut.

Youngsters Kelechi Iheanacho of Manchester City and Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi are also in the squad, while West Ham’s Victor Moses, Lokomotiv Moscow’s Aaron Samuel and South Africa-based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi returned.

There is, however, no place for Leon Balogun, Rabiu Ibrahim and Sylvester Igboun.

Nigeria host the Pharoah on March 25, before travelling for the return game four days later in Alexandria.
