Shola Ameobi set for Super Eagles return

Shola Ameobi has confirmed that he is set to resume his international career, after the clause in his Newcastle contract which prevented him from playing at the Africa Cup of Nations was expunged.

Super Eagles spokesman Dayo Enebi, also confirmed the latest development in a statement.

Meanwhile, coach Stephen Keshi, who desperately wanted the 31-year-old striker in his Nations Cup squad, has expressed his delight with the news.

“He is no doubt a good player and the national team can make do with his experience anytime we call upon him,” he said.

Ameobi made his debut for the Nigerian national team in November 2012, in a friendly against Venezuela.
