Sheriff says he’ll take PDP back to its ‘rightful owners’

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, says he is “committed to taking the party back to its rightful owners”.

He also urged Nigerians not to despair but see an opportunity in the current economic challenges.

Sheriff said this in his Easter message signed by Acting Deputy National Chairman of the party, Dr Cairo Ojougboh and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday.

He felicitated with Christians in Nigeria, noting the significance of the occasion of Christ’s death and resurrection.

He said, “As we remember the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we should draw a lesson from his resurrection and rise above the challenges we currently face as a country.

“Even in recession, we believe as a party that there are opportunities that we believe the ever resilient Nigerian people can explore and exploit to better their lot.

“As a party, we are working hard to reposition ourselves so that the good governance that the PDP is known for 16 years would be made available for the betterment of our countrymen and women.

“This is not time to despair, but to come together as one strong party to take over the reins of leadership at the national and state levels.

“We cannot allow the desperation of a few of our renegade members to distract us from the bigger task ahead.

“We must put on our positive thinking caps, ginger our acclaimed spirit of innovation, rise above our challenges and get our party working again.

“We must let our detractors know that the fate of millions of our supporters cannot be tied to the whims and caprices of a few shenanigans.

“On my part, I am committed to taking the party back to its rightful owners, the hardworking Nigerian people so that our party can be great again.”
