Sheriff’s group begins voting in Edo PDP factional governorship primary

The factional leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen Ali Modu Sheriff-led group has commenced voting in the party’s ongoing primary election to pick its flag bearer in the forthcoming Edo State gubernatorial election.

Shortly after accreditation, 677 delegates started casting their ballot papers according to their respective local government areas.

Sheriff’s group had cleared two aspirants, Johnson Agbonayima and Matthew Iduoriyekemwen to contest the primary election.

However, Agbonayima, who represents Egor and Ikpoba-Okha constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, prior to the commencement of voting announced his decision to step down for ‎Iduoriyekemwen, stressing that his decision was in the best interest of the party and the people of the state.
