Former Minister of Aviation, who served as spokesman for the PDP 2015 Presidential Campaign, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has added his voice in condemnation of the choice of former Borno State governor, Ali Modu-Sheriff, as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, wondering whether those who made the decision “have lost their ability to see reason properly and to exercise their discretion in a logical, responsible and lucid manner”
Baring his mind in an article he published on Friday entitled ‘Modu Sheriff: who has bewitched the PDP?’ Fani-Kayode described the new Chairman as “most controversial, intellectually-challenged, morally-depraved and despicable character”, who he said was appointed because “‘he has plenty of money to spend on the party” and no less than “5 private jets” to lend out to those who needed a free plane ride”.
He reasoned that the party should have settled for North-easterners with impeccable records of public service, high moral standing and good character like Mohammed Wakil, Nuhu Ribadu, Bala Mohammed, Wilberforce Juta, Aliyu Modibbo, Ahmed Gulak, rather than Sheriff, who he claimed cannot be divorced from the Boko Haram terrorism plaguing the nation.
The PDP chieftain alleged that Ali Modu-Sheriff’s long-term plan is to hijack the leadership of the party for as long as possible by indefinitely remaining as National Chairman, a ploy he claimed that Sheriff will use to emerge as the Party’s presidential candidate during the 2019 elections.
