The Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, on Thursday, congratulated the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, on his recent election as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF.

Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara, who is the outgoing chairman of the forum, disclosed this after a meeting held Wednesday night in Abuja.

Yari disclosed that Fayemi was nominated by Malam Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, seconded by the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa and unanimously elected by the governors to lead the forum till 2021.

In his acceptance speech, Fayemi expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed on him by his colleagues.

Fayemi said, “We will build on commitment with a strong partnership with the Federal Government as federating unit and trash out issues as amicably as possible, in the overall interest of the country.”

Reacting to the development, Shehu Sani, in a tweet Thursday morning, described Fayemi’s election as ‘well-deserved’.

He wrote: “Congratulations to Dr Kayode Fayemi for your well-deserved emergence as Chair of the Governors forum.

“Your clean and clear victory is a testimony of the confidence repose in you by your colleagues.

“You have a lot of work to do in the current national paralysis.”
