Shehu Sani reacts as new IGP Mohammed disbands SARS

Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central has reacted to the reshuffling of appointment and the decentralisation of operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit by Acting Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Mohammed Adamu.

DAILY POST reports that IGP Mohammed on Monday ordered the decentralization of SARS which before the current development, were centralized at the Force Headquarters.

Mohammed gave the order at a meeting with officers in the rank of Commissioners of Police and above on Monday in Abuja.

He said that with the new arrangement, commissioners of police in the 36 states and the FCT would assume full command and control of all SARS in their commands.

The police boss said henceforth, the SARS unit in the force headquarters would be under the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID).

Reacting, Sani took to his Twitter page commending the new IG for the new measures.

The Kaduna lawmaker wrote: “Reversing the last minute redeployments of the last IG by the new IG, abolishing outfit notorious for rights violations and redeeming the image of the police is a commendable step by the new IG of police.”
