Shakhtar Donetsk manager, Mircea Lucescu, has congratulated Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos, on his £52million move to Manchester United.
Lucescu is credited with helping to mould Fred into a holding midfielder at Shakhtar and the Turkey coach is proud that the Brazilian is joining a big European club.
“I’m really pleased Fred has completed his transfer to Manchester United. I am proud of him.
“When I signed him at Shakhtar, Taison and Bernard were playing in his position.
“I transformed his position, giving him a more defensive role,” he said.
Fred was given time off from his country’s World Cup preparations, to have his medical at Carrington on Monday.
The deal is expected to be announced this week.
