SGF wants NASS to Pass 2018 budget on time

Secretary to the Government of the Federation,(SGF) Boss Mustapha has urged the National Assembly to hasten work on the 2018 budget proposal to enable its quick passage.

He made the appeal when he appeared before Senate Committee on Federal Character to defend his office budget for 2018.

He said it has become imperative to ensure that the budget is passed on time to avoid a glitch especially as the country goes into election next year.

“It is our prayer that the National Assembly will consider and approved the proposed 2018 budget of the Office of the SGF to enable government perform better than last year”, he said.

The SGF, however, disclosed that his office has developed mechanism to effectively monitor and evaluate the budget performance and implementation of the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He said his office would also use the mechanism to monitor releases and timeline for the completion of projects.

The SGF, therefore, pleads with the National Assembly to conclude work on the budget document.

The National Assembly had just before it embarked on New Year holiday punch holes in the 2018 budget, arguing that it is garnished in errors and inconsistencies.

The proposed capital budget for the office of the SGF for 2018 is N2.492 billion while personal cost stands at N3.398 billion.
