SGF leads cabinet members to pray for quick recovery of Buhari, three Ministers

A prayer led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, at the commencement of Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting has confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari and three of his ministers are presently indisposed.

It would be recalled that the President had on Monday departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for London, United Kingdom for a 10-day vacation during which he will see Ear, Nose and Throat, ENT, specialist for an ear infection. Just before leaving the airport, Buhari had asked reporters who interviewed him: “is there anybody that doesn’t fall sick?”

The FEC meeting which was slated for 12 noon started at 12:10pm when the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo entered the already filled Council Chambers venue of the meeting and appointed the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed to say the Islamic prayer, while he asked Lawal to say the Christian prayer.

While Mohammed simply asked God to grant the cabinet members wisdom as they make national decisions at the meeting, the SGF prayed God to be with the President who he said was on “medical vacation.”

The SGF then offered prayers for the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan popularly known as “Mama Taraba”, saying she had been down but now “recuperating from surgery in the US.”

Next on the list was the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who Lawal said, was down with “back pain” and prayed God to heal him.

Just before rounding off, the SGF was reminded of the Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jibril, making him to promptly add Jibril’s name to his list of sick cabinet members who the Almighty should heal.
