Following Senate’s resolution to investigate the circumstances surrounding the extension of Senator Ndoma Egba’s tenure as NDDC Chairman, the new SGF, Mr. Boss Mustapha has indicated his intention to liaise with the Senate to ensure that the issue is resolved peacefully.
The development was disclosed at Tuesday plenary by the Senate leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan, saying that he had discussed with the SGF over the issue.
Lawan pleaded with the Senators that the SGF be allowed to Wade into the matter, noting that the SGF was not behind the extension of the NDDC Chairman.
“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, I was in the office of the SGF yesterday to find out issues behind the extension of NDDC Chairman’s tenure.”
“He pleaded that he should be allowed to liaise with the parties concerned and in my view I want to plead that we should step down discussion, so that it will not look as if we are unnecessarily confronting the executive.”
Earlier, Senator Emmanuel Paulker (Bayelsa Central) through order 42(2) to alleged illegal extension of the NDDC board chairman which was reported by DAILY POST newspapers on Tuesday.
In his remark, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki through a vote upheld that the matter be stepped down to enable the SGF wade into the matter.
“Distinguished colleagues, let’s allow the SGF intervene since he is willing to do so, so that it would not look as if in everything, we are opposing the government,” Saraki said.
