The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Alkali Baba Usman has disclosed that as part of the strategies to rid the state of criminally-minded persons, the Command has begun raid into many of the brothels in the state.
Usman observed that people with questionable minds and characters were usually those who patronized the commercial sex workers, revealing that the “A” Division Police Station in Asaba, had several times raided the brothel which operates as a guest house and had arrested many of the workers.
This came after sex workers operating around Summit Road, Asaba, on Thursday, reportedly detained three married men for allegedly failing to pay after being “serviced” for hours.
According to The Punch, the sex workers had told the clients that a round of sex was N3,000 while ‘Till Day Break’ ranges between N7,000 and N8,000, depending on negotiations.
However, trouble started after the victims pressured the sex workers into having sex with them for a down payment of N2,000 for each round, promising that they will pay the balance after the action.
The sex workers had grudgingly accepted the deal after a long-drawn haggling session, warning that their failure to pay the balance will attract trouble for them.
However, the men could not come up with the balance afterwards.
One of the sex workers identified as Silver Ogieriakhi said, “We manhandled the men and detained them when they tried to prove logic for us.
Meanwhile, investigations revealed that the brothel located around the State Ministry of Information, Summit Road, which features strippers who allegedly smoke indian hemp and drink freely, was a hive of activity at night.
Speaking on the incident, Manager of the brothel, Mr. Chinedu Emeka, said: “The victims confessed that they were married men who wanted fun and were having insufficient funds to make up.
“However, instead of begging our workers, they resorted to a shouting match with them and they were detained in their rooms before a good Samaritan paid for them,” Emeka explained.
