No fewer than eight suspected armed robbers have been apprehended by the Ogun State Police Command in separate operations across the State, while different types of weapons were recovered from them.
The bandits were nabbed between Sunday and Wednesday at Ago Iwoye, Ota and Ibafo areas of the state.
In Ago Iwoye operation, police detectives stormed the robbers’ den located along Ijesha Road, and arrested three suspects.
Before their arrest on Sunday, the gang were said to have terrorised residents of Ago Iwoye and its environs.
The three arrested suspects are- Balogun Akin, Olayemi Mustapha and Mohammed Kola.
Items recovered from the arrested robbers include- two locally-made guns, live cartridges, complete set of army camouflage uniform, and some masks used during robbery operations.
In a similar operation, three suspected robbers, who have been terrorising residents of Ota and Ibafo community of the State, were rounded up by an Anti-Robbery squad on Wednesday.
The Ota divisional police team, led by DPO, Muideen Adisa, a Chief Superintendent of Police, got a tip-off that some hoodlums usually take refuge in an area in Ijoko-Ota, after carrying out robbery operation.
On raiding the hideout on Tuesday, a member of the gang identified as Peter Babalola, was apprehended with one Pump Action gun.
According to the police, the suspect during interrogation said he was a member of the gang that operated in the Ota area of Ogun State.
Also the Police operatives in the State foiled a robbery operation at old Kara in Ibafo on Wednesday arresting one Onyeka Ude, and Ikechukwu Bernard, while other members of the gang escaped in the process.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while confirming the series of arrests, said members of the community in the area aided in apprehending them.
