Seven persons have been reportedly killed when suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Koton-Karfi and Onzo communities in Kogi local government council of Kogi State.
DAILY POST gathered that the two separate attacks took place in the early hours of Tuesday between 2am and 3am.
According to a source, the suspected Fulani herdsmen have been hiding in a mountain surrounding the communities without the knowledge of the people.
However, at about 2am on Tuesday, the killer herders numbering over 30 and fully armed with AK 47 and other dangerous weapons, invaded the communities and opened fire on the houses of people.
The violent herdsmen were said to have divided themselves for coordinated attacks on the two communities.
It was gathered that three persons died during the attack which lasted several hours.
Meanwhile, the Administrator of Kogi local government area, Barrister Muhammed Tanko, who confirmed the attacks while speaking with newsmen, however assured that security agents in the state were on the top of the situation.
He stated that the attacks came as a surprise because Koton-Karfi area has been a peaceful community.
Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, William Ayah, when contacted by our correspondent on the incident, said the Command was yet to be briefed.
