The Spanish Football Federation, RFEF, has handed Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, a five-match ban for insulting a referee.
Ramos was shown a red card in the Copa del Rey game against Celta Vigo, but went ahead to heap insults on Ayza Gamez, before he eventually left the pitch. Gamez included the incident in his match report and despite the fact the Spain international apologised afterwards, the RFEF decided to impose sanctions.
His ban kicks in this Saturday and the 26-year-old will miss La Liga games against Osasuna, Valencia and Getafe, as well as the two legs of the Copa del Rey quarter-final against valencia.
