Senegal vs Algeria: Sadio Mane chooses between Liverpool’s Champions League win, AFCON final victory

Senegal and Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane has said that he would swap the Red’s UEFA Champions League final win for victory with the Teranga Lions over Algeria in tonight’s Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, final clash in Egypt.

Mane will hope to lead Aliou Cissé’s side to victory when they tackle the Desert Foxes in this year’s AFCON final at the Cairo International Stadium.

Senegal head to the game after defeating Tunisia 1-0 in the semi-final encounter last weekend, while Algeria defeated Nigeria 2-1.

When asked if he would swap Liverpool’s Champions League final win for AFCON final victory with Senegal over Algeria tonight, Mane said he would trade it all for a first major trophy at the international level.

“For sure, I would be ready even today to swap,” the 27-year-old told BBC Sport.

“Maybe I don’t need to swap when we win it hopefully.

“We know it won’t be easy but it’s normal, it’s part of football. Algeria is a great team and now I’m just looking forward to playing in the final and to win it.”

The kick-off time for the match is 8pm.
