Senators’ defection: APC will collapse before 2019 – Group

A non-governmental organization, Ohaukwu Youths General Assembly, OHYGA, has claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, will collapse before the 2019 elections, particularly with Tuesday’s defection of 15 senators and 37 House of Representatives members into the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, and the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

The group made this known in a press statement signed by its president-general, Mr. Agbo Sunday, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi state.

Agbo described the defection as timely and a plus to the PDP, adding that the development will enable the PDP takeover Presidency from the ruling APC in next year’s election.

He stated that the present federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has caused lots of pains and suffering to Nigerians and needed to be changed in 2019.

The group further alleged that the APC-led administration has committed a lot of atrocities ranging from the arrest of some members of PDP especially those at the National Assembly.

It said, “The defection of the fifteen Senators of the federal republic of Nigeria from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP is a victory for democracy.

“Even when the dust was yet to settle, more defection was recorded in the House of Representatives where thirty two members of the APC defected to the PDP.

“The impact is that APC has collapsed. Nigerians are now aware of the party’s deceit and are tired of the failed change they promised Nigerians.

“Democracy in Nigeria is taking back centre stage and no single Nigerian will identify with a government known for lawlessness, government that do not have regard for the sanctity of human life. In fact Buhari has failed Nigerians.”
