Senator Aniete Okon has reacted to the sack of Etekamba Umoren, an ally of former governor, Godswill Akpabio, as Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain distanced Umoren’s sack from the crisis between Akpabio, now a Senator, and his successor, Udom Emmanuel.

According to Okon, Umoren’s presence in the government as SSG was to stabilise the Emmanuel administration.

“It is very unfortunate when Nigerians feel every issue is political.

“I must say that his removal has nothing to do with the perceived in-fighting going on in the state.

“So people should not make a case out of nothing,” Vanguard quoted him as saying.

Udom appointed Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, former National President of Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), as the new SSG.

Udom’s Chief Press Secretary, Ekrete Udoh, confirmed to DAILY POST Tuesday evening that Ekuwen was sworn in earlier in the day.

He is a native of Ofi Uda in Mbo Local Government Area; holds a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with specialty in Computer-based Instrumentation and Control Engineering.

The new SSG is the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Teledom Group and a former President of Nigeria Internet Group (NIG).

Ekuwem is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA).
