Senator Mark hails Dosunmu as a great patriot

President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has described Senator Wahab Dosunmu as a great patriot who fought for Justice, freedom, peace and Democracy in Nigeria.

Reacting to the demise of late Dosunmu, Senator Mark noted that the late lawmaker was an astute politician and an accomplished administrator.

Senator Dosunmu was elected Senator of the Federal Republic on the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 1999. Before his tenure ended in 2003, he decamped from AD to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Mark: “As a parliamentarian, he distinguished himself as a vibrant lawmaker who exhibited great attribute of nationalism and patriotism. He was a politician who believed in the sanctity of one indivisible Nigeria.

“As Nigeria’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Senator Dosunmu promoted and projected Nigeria to the outside world in a very positive light. And as a Minister of the Federal Republic, he was exemplary”.

Senator Mark recalled that Dosunmu was in the forefront of the struggle for the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999 and worked assiduously for its consolidation.

During his stint in the Senate, the Senate President recalled that Dosunmu exhibited good conduct as a statesman, “offering useful advice and intervention during the teething period of this democracy in 1999.

“I can submit without fear of contradiction that Senator Dosunmu lived an eventful and accomplished life worthy of emulation”.

He therefore implored the government and people of Lagos State especially the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that Senator Dosunmu left a positive legacy on the sand of time.
