Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has claimed that the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial district of the state, Prof. Ajayi Borrofice is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Borrofice was elected on the platform of the Labour Party, but later decanted to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to contest the governorship ticket of the party in 2012.
The Lawmaker was re-lected into the senate in 2015 on the platform of the APC. He contested the governorship ticket of the party with Akeredolu in the 2016 primary election of the party.
Borrofice was alleged to be working for the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Olusola Oke against Akeredolu during the 2016 gubernatorial election in the state.
Akeredolu, who spoke with journalists shortly after the unification rally organized as part of the activities marking his one year in office, said he was aware of only two senators in APC from the state.
He said “I know of two Senators in APC in Ondo State , and that is Senator Tayo Alasoadura and Senator Yele Omogunwa
“To me those two have been supportive, I don’t know why Yele is not here, or probably Yele has one engagement or the other. But to us, Alasoadura has been supportive from beginning to the end, so those are the two Senators I know in APC in Ondo state. ”
Senator Borrofice, his political godson and Lawmaker representing Akoko North East /Southwest Federal constituency, Babatunde Kolawole were not at the event.
