A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Senator Ighoyota Amori, has stated that former president Olusegun Obasanjo has not returned to partisan politics.

Amori said this while reacting to Obasanjo’s recent appearance at a rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun state.

The campaign was held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta.

Obasanjo had said, “I am just passing by and decided to say hello and wish you well.”

Reacting to Obasanjo’s appearance at the rally, Amore said the former president only demonstrated that he was a statesman.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Abuja, Amori described Obasanjo as “a man of principle who will always criticise whatever is wrong and laud what is good’’.

“When Obasanjo sees a good thing or conduct, he identifies with it. When he sees what is bad he distances himself from it.

“So, what he did in Ogun state signified that the PDP is doing what is right.

“I am sure that by the time a presidential candidate of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) emerges, if it is suitable to Obasanjo, he will identify with the person.’’
