The Senator representing Ondo Central in the National Assembly, Chief Tayo Alasoadura, has lamented the non-inclusion of anybody from the state in the ambassadorial list being considered by the Senate.

Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, had last week submitted a list of 47 nominees to the Senate for consideration.

While some states have two nominees each, nobody from Ondo is on the list.

Addressing journalists in Akure, Alasoadura promised to do his best in ensuring the injustice is corrected.

The senator, had during plenary on Thursday, observed the non-inclusion of any nominee from Ondo state on the list before the Senate.

Exploring the Personal Explanation Order 43 of the Senate Rule, he wondered why the name of at least one career diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Ondo State was not included in the nomination despite that several of them are qualified.

He called on the Senate to redress the omission which did not conform with the provisions of the Federal Character.

Senate President Bukola Saraki had read at plenary the names of the 47 nominees for screening and confirmation.

Prominent citizens of Ondo State had wondered why the State had no nominee on the list, a development which prompted Alasoadura to request the Senate to intervene so that his state would not be short-changed.
