Senate reveals names of Buhari’s Ministerial nominees

Writer: AdminAdmin

Senate on Wednesday acknowledged receipt of names of two President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees from Kogi and Gombe States.

The executive communication was coming barely 24 hours after the Senate took a decision to suspend the confirmation of 27 Resident Electoral Commissioners in protest against refusal to sack Ibrahim Magu two weeks after Senate rejected his nomination.

Those forwarded by Mr. President which was announced on the floor by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki are Prof. Stephen Ocheni from Kogi State and Suleiman Zanna Hassan from Gombe State.

The duo are expected to occupy vacant positions left in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity as well Ministry of Environment respectively.

While Ocheni is expected to replace the slot for Late Barrister James Ocholi who died in a fatal car accident along Abuja-Kaduna highway last year, Hassan would fill the slot for Gombe after the former Minister of Environment, Aminat Mohammed took a new appointment as Deputy U.N.Secretary.

DAILY POST, however, could not ascertain if the Senate would consider the request having expressed anger at Tuesday’s plenary over Buhari’s failure to remove EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, in line with their resolution two weeks ago.
