Senate reduces JAMB fee from N5,650 to N2,500

The Upper Chamber of the National Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution, which slashed the registration fee of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) from N5, 650 to 2, 500.

This came following the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund on the inquiry into the new admission policy of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

At the plenary session Wednesday, the senators also recommended the extension of the validity period of the UTME to three academic year.

The Senate also adopted the recommendation of the Committee chaired by Senator Binta Masi Garba (APC, Adamawa North) that the change of institution, course form and other incidental activities around the exam should be free.
