Senate, PDP, CAN support Jonathan over declaration of state of emergency

The Senate yesterday expressed its satisfaction over President Goodluck Jonathan’s declaration of State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States due to the growing insecurity in those states and other parts of the country.

Reacting to President Jonathan’s declaration , Chairman, Senate Committee on Media, Information and Public Affairs, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe had noted that the Senate was solidly behind Jonathan in his latest decision of a declaration of emergency in the three northern states. He said, “the Senate is fully in support of any measure taken to restore normalcy in the country.”

In his reaction, the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, also said that President Jonathan’s decision was completely in line with the thoughts of all its members. Metuh reacted thus, “The PDP supports the president on all actions that will restore stability, peace and progress in the polity. And we commend him for showing effective leadership.”

In its reaction, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN in the 19 Northern States has showered accolades on the President for his decision, affirming that the degree of destruction by the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram calls for such an emergency declaration.
