Senate: “I never asked Alasoadura to fight for me” – Boroffice

Following the recent fracas between senators of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which later led to exchange of blows, a Senator representing Ondo North District, Prof Ajayi Boroffice has debunked the rumours that he is lobbying for a principal office in the Upper Chamber.

There was exchange of blows between Senators Marafa and Tayo Alasoadura, who is also from Ondo State over the choice of Senator Olusola Adeyeye as Chief whip.

Alasoadura was said to have queried the selection of Adeyeye, from Osun State on the ground that the Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf is also from Osun, thereby canvassing for his kinsman, Borofice as the right choice for the seat.

But, reacting to this, Borofice said he would always abide by the rules and decisions taken by the party, noting that he had not directed Alasoadura to make a case for him.

Rather, he said his utmost priority for now was to give proactive representation to the people of Ondo North in particular and the entire people across the sunshine state.

He noted that already the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief John Odigie-Oyegun had sent a letter covering the names of the Principal Officers in the Senate and the House of Representatives to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara for necessary action.

The Senator maintained that the party had a say in the choice of principal officers of the house.

He queried the rationale behind the support given by his counterpart in the Ondo Central District, Chief Tayo Alasoadura to the emergence of Dr Bukola Saraki as the Senate President and Senator Ike Ekweremadu as his Deputy.

This action according to the Asiwaju of Akokoland was against the directives of the APC.

Boroffice noted that since Alasoadura was not from kwara State where Saraki hails from, he was supposed to align with the decision of the Senators from the Southwest states.

The lawmaker reiterated his committment to the supremacy of the party, stressing that APC was bigger than any individual.

He promised to continue with his various programmes aimed at making life comfortable to the people in Akokoland and the entire Ondo State.

Boroffice reiterated his support to the leadership of APC, particularly its National Chairman, Chief Oyegun, National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Besides, he urged Nigerians irrespective of political affliation to support the present APC’s government to guarantee development. .
