The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has demanded the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF’s sponsorship accounts from last year till date after the nation’s apex football body told the Senate’s Sports Committee earlier this week that it had no fund to execute the match against Zambia.
Nigeria is billed to tackle Zambia in Ndola on Sunday, in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
A top official at the senate told Vanguard that, “The Senate President has asked the NFF to present their sponsorship accounts since 2015 for him to take a position on their request for a special government bailout.
“This account is to be presented, just as the Senate President admitted he has received reports on how monies from sponsorships have been applied over time.”
President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick had told the senate committee that the federation is going through hard times with “financial incapacitation” adding that they could not afford a chartered flight to Zambia and hotel accommodation in the country for the players and crew.
The NFF had of recent asked the Europe-based players to fly the economy class as they resume for the Abuja training camp ahead of the Zambian clash.
