Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Dino Melaye has made a stunning revelation on the floor of the Senate on Thursday, alleging that Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello imported restricted security gadgets without end user declaration in the Custom papers.

He explained that the Nigeria Customs has intercepted the items which were in the custody of Nigeria Aviation Handling Company of Nigeria (NAHCO).

The lawmaker who made these revelations through order 43 of Senate rules, noted that he has sufficient proofs of how those items were imported into the country without clearance from the National Security Adviser to the President as required by law.

Dino further explained that Capt. Jerry Omodara (rtd), the Security Adviser to the governor has presented himself to the Nigerian Customs, claiming ownership when it became obvious that those items have been seized.

He urged the James Manager led-Ad-hoc Committee to take the issue as part of their assignments and to ensure that they were still in the custody of NAHCO.

“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, in view of this, I urge the Committee led by a ranking Senator, James Manager to add this assignment.”

“I also urge them to move to NAHCO this afternoon to ensure that those items are still in their custody.”

Responding, Deputy Senate President told the Ad-hoc committee which was set up on Thursday to investigate the case immediately.

He asked the committee to turn in their report as quickly as possible.
