The senator representing Taraba North Senatorial district, Danbaba Abdullahi has reported to the Senate that the Senate Committee on Army headed by Senator George Akume, has been dormant.
Speaking on Order 14 and 15 of the Senate rules, he expressed disappointment that as Vice Chairman of the Committee, he could not recall when last they oversighted Nigerian Army projects.
He stated that they visited the Army sometime in 2016, adding that since then, the Committee has not done anything, suggesting that Senator George Akume was not in charge.
“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, the Senate Committee on Army which I am the Vice Chairman is completely detached from over sighting the Army.
“We have never supervised military projects which are ongoing across the nation. We don’t know what is happening and it was only sometime in 2016 that we visited one of their project sites.”
