Security guards who gang-raped teenager get N1m bail

A Lagos Magistrate Court, sitting in Ikeja, has granted two security guards, who allegedly gang-raped a teenage girl, bail in the sum of N1 million.

The defendants, Gabriel Vincent, 26, and 25-year-old Anthony Oguche, where arraigned with a three-count charge of conspiracy, abduction and rape.

The Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, who granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each, ordered that they produce two responsible sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi directed that their case files be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, told the court that both defendants committed the offences on August 27 at 5.00 p.m. at their office, Santos Ventures, Akowonjo Roundabout, Egbeda, Lagos.

Imhonwa told the court that the security guards lured the 15-year-old girl into their room at the security post, held her hostage for hours before raping her.

“They held her in their room against her will, manhandled her and then raped her that evening,” the prosecutor said.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 137,141, and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

When the charges were read, the accused denied committing the act.

The Magistrate subsequently adjourned the matter till October 26.
