A 20- year-old security guard, Abass Haman, was on Tuesday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court in Ikeja for allegedly raping his employer’s seven-year-old daughter.
Haman, who resides in his employer’s compound at Plot 20/ 21, Fiyin Dammy Street, Magodo area of the state, is standing trial on a one count charge of rape.
While testifying in court, the prosecutor, Jimah Iseghede, said the accused committed the offence on September 3 at his employer’s residence.
Iseghede told the court that Haman forced the seven-year-old girl into having sex with him.
“The victim narrated her ordeal to her friend and her mother was later informed.
“The accused was then apprehended by the police,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 258 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Haman however denied the charge proffered against him.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Tajudeen Elias, adjourned the case to September 30 for ruling on the bail application.
